As the weather gets hotter and hotter, there have been more and more warnings about making sure your pets are safe from heatstroke and dehydration.

Not only that, but people leaving dogs in cars are hitting headlines once again, and now the state of Tennessee has taken a huge step to combat this.

The US state has legalised breaking into cars should an animal inside of one be in distress because of the heat.

Previously, had someone decided to break into a car to save a suffering animal, they would have faced action in terms of civil liability for any damage caused – now, that will not be an issue, with the only person facing legal problems being the person who left said animal in the car initially.

For my money, there needs to be a hell of a lot more done to protect animals, not only when it comes to them being left in cars, but in general, and at least this is a start.
