A man in Texas who thought it’d be a good idea to shoot an armadillo was injured when the bullet ricocheted off its shell and hit him in his face.
County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who hasn’t been identified, was outside his house at around 3am on Thursday when spotted the armadillo on his property, and you know, just opened fire.
According the Huffington Post, his wife was in the house when the man went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot at the animal three times.
As a fellow Texan, I want to extend my warmest thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to the armadillo and their family. https://t.co/ZL98FcIw0x

Mr Lowe said:
The animal’s hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man’s jaw. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where his jaw was wired shut.
The armadillo is still at large.
