JK Rowling has once again fascinated Harry Potter fans with the news that in the upcoming prequel to the much loved series, it will be the ‘age of Hufflepuff’.
The Hogwarts house is often seen as the least desirable to be sorted into – but all that is set to change with this latest bit of information.
Oscar winning actor Eddie Redmayne will take centre stage in the film, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and there have been plenty of famous Hufflepuffs in the series, although they are often overlooked.
Helga Hufflepuff, herbology teacher and Head of House Pomona Sprout, the fallen Cedric Diggory (or Edward Cullen as you may know him), deceased Auror Nymphadora Tonks and Newt Scamander all hail from the yellow wearing house, and will now see fans appreciate them as much as Rowling does.
Last week, the hashtag of #BackToSchool caused a huge buzz on Twitter, when the author reminded everyone that James Potter would be starting school – Harry’s son, not father, obviously – and given he was also sorted into Gryffindor, it seems about time Hufflepuff took centre stage.
Rowling is no stranger to giving away bits of information about the series on Pottermore and Twitter, and sharing things with her followers.
She recently dropped the bombshell that Voldermort is actually pronounced with a silent ‘T’ – not that anyone actually pronounces it like that, and even admitted as much – so no wonder Rowling preferred He Who Must Not Be Named.
