If you’re worried about North Korea and believe World War 3 is around the corner, I bet you wish you had a nuclear bunker right now.
Although people are right when they say being a millionaire doesn’t guarantee happiness, it may just save your life in the case of a nuclear explosion.
This is because only those with plenty of dollar can actually build an effective bunker, protecting them from the blast – if it comes of course!
Much like this converted luxury bunker which could be all yours for a staggering $17.5 million:
Built entirely underground, this bunker is able to survive a 20-kiloton nuclear explosion, natural disasters, terrorist attacks and civil disturbances.
Situated near Savannah, Georgia, it has everything you could possibly need in the event of nuclear warfare, including a weapons room, three-foot-thick walls, a $100,000 CCTV system and even decontamination showers.
There’s also a nurse’s room and air intake systems alongside more everyday features which include hot water, solar power and humidity controls.
According to the Daily Mail, the property went on the market in 2015 and is still being owned by seller Bastion Holdings.
Being the only privately-owned underground bunker of its kind in the US, I bet it isn’t a hard sell despite its hefty price tag.
I’m sure there’re plenty of millionaires out there who’d like to get their hands on it!
Originally built during the Cold War in 1969, by the Army Corps of Engineers, the bunker was given a renovation in 2012 bringing it up to modern governmental standards.
Not only has it been modernised, but the bunker has also been given a glamorous makeover, now having two levels of living space which totals around 14,000 square feet.
While the first level comprises of several communal areas, including a games room and large home cinema, the second level is split into four luxury apartments which each has their own kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, bathroom and living room.
There’s even a separate staff quarters so you can pretend you’re in Downton Abbey!
Although the seller is open to anyone who wants to buy the bunker, it’s being advertised as a potential corporate retreat, training facility or even the ultimate man cave.
However, Chris Salamone, co-owner of Bastion Holdings, a training company for government and security personnel, believes the bunker should be sold to someone looking for protection in case nuclear war breaks out.
He said:
We are living in an increasingly dangerous world. This property offers the ultimate safe haven for any family, business or government that wants the ultimate in security and comfort.
Renovations include amenities that rival any five-star hotel, except located 45 feet underground, impenetrable and undetectable.
Martin McDermott, CEO of the company, and a counter-terrorism, surveillance and communications expert, added:
This facility is impenetrable, while meeting the highest standards for quality, comfort and security.
It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
