The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Animated Fan Film Looks Incredible

The criminally underrated Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is being adapted into a short film by animation studio Ember Lab, and it’s looking incredible.

Veteran fans will know that Majora’s Mask is one of the darkest Zelda games – you’re forced to replay the same three days over and again as you try to prevent the moon from crashing into the Earth.

You get to know and help a cast of bizarre characters, but every time you rewind to the first day, they forget all about you and your heroic deeds. It’s seriously melancholy stuff.

The full short will be about three minutes long and is due later this year. It’s a shame, as I could easily watch a full hour of Ember Lab’s gorgeous take on Zelda.

Check out the teaser below. It’s clearly inspired by the Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask art style, but with its own wonderful bells and whistles.

You may have noticed that the whole thing seems to be a treat for the ears as well as the eyes.

Credit for the excellent composition goes to Theophany, an artist who already released an album of Zelda cover tunes called Time’s End: Majora’s Mask Remixed, which is well worth checking out if you’re a Nintendo fan.

Now, let’s all keep out fingers crossed real tight and hope that Nintendo don’t shut this down. They probably will, though.
