Theme park rides and videogames are two of the greatest things in the world, so surely combining the two will give us something incredible?

It certainly looks that way in the case of the new Mass Effect 4D ride. Announced last year for California’s Great America, in sunny Santa Clara.

The theme park have now released a video of the experience to whet the appetite, and informed us when we can have a go on Mass Effect: New Earth.

New Earth will open on May 18, though you’d obviously need to fork out for a ticket to the theme park itself – is that worth it to try out one ride?

You’d have to really like Mass Effect, that’s for sure. If you’re really curious, you can find their prices here.

The ride will feature a 60-foot 3D LED screen designed specifically for the experience, and the visuals have been built using Unreal Engine 4.

It’s also apparently meant to bridge the narrative gap between the original trilogy and the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is a bit of a shitter for the vast number of fans that clearly aren’t gonna have a chance to go anywhere near this ride.

The ride was produced in partnership with Electronic Arts and Mass Effect developer BioWare, and will also feature settings and characters from the series.

Personally, I’ve always wanted to explore the rich universe of Mass Effect while stuck between two fat tourists and a screaming child, so dreams do come true after all.
