It’s never been easy to freely explore our oceans without advanced technology, but slowly and surely, we are getting to the bottom of them and discovering some absolute treasures.
The Pacific Ocean is the epitome of the above statement, and divers have recently managed to uncover something incredible near the Marshall Islands.
Brandi Mueller recently published an iconic set of photos from a World War II graveyard at the bed of the Pacific, and it’s a breathtaking sight.
According to Mueller, the planes – which include Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers, F4U Corsairs, TBF/TBM Avengers, Helldivers, B-25 Mitchells, Curtiss C-46 Commandos and F4F Wildcats – were dumped here 70 years ago as it was too expensive to transport them back to the U.S. from the Kwajalein Atoll.
Speaking to Mashable, the scuba diving instructor said:
I find diving [to see] the airplanes really exciting. It’s a strange thing to see airplanes underwater. Shipwrecks you expect, but not airplanes.
