As the world begins to take stock of the damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, a few choice celebrities are donating big bucks to the aid organisations helping those on the ground.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the latest to send $25,000 to the Red Cross, in the hopes of aiding the many people who have been uprooted and are trying to survive the category four storm.

He announced the generous donation on Instagram:

Johnson shared a message of hope and solidarity with those affected by the disaster, explaining he too had survived a similar storm, in category five Hurricane Andrew, which struck the Bahamas and Florida in August 1992.

But he also had some strong words for his friend and co-star, Kevin Hart, who had publicly pressured his fellow millionaires to donate to the aid fund.

Kevin called upon Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and others in the following video message:

He perhaps insensitively dubbed it ‘the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge’. The Rock said he appreciated his ‘brother’, Hart, but added, ‘I’m not gonna call out my celebrity friends, you guys already know what to do’.

Hurricane Harvey is reported by the New York Times to have caused a total of 30 fatalities, and counting, after flood waters ravaged cities like Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, and people are left stranded. The rescue operations continue.
