The closest most people will get to a multimillion pound yacht is seeing them on the TV or in magazines – or if we’re really lucky, renting one out for a week.

That’s not the case for the mega wealthy out there, who not only rent yachts, but also buy them and sail around on their month-long holidays.

The yachts cost serious cash – in fact, you could probably rebuild the Greek economy or buy yourself a sports team with the eye-watering amounts that get spent on them.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at 10 most expensive ones, so from 10 to one, here is the countdown of the biggest and best luxury yachts out there:

2) Eclipse, estimated cost – $450million to $1.2billion

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich owns a yacht so expensive that it’s construction value is kept underwraps and has even been estimated to be as much as $1.5billion.

Abramovich is a generous guy, and even lets his Chelsea players borrow the yacht should they do well enough – and given it boasts its own private defence system, two helipads and a private submarine. You can understand why it comes in at number two on the list.

1) Streets of Monaco – $1billion

The most expensive yacht in the world, and one that doesn’t even have an owner yet.
