The Internet’s usual frosty heart melted this week when a grandkid tweeted a picture of her sad looking grandpa, but don’t worry things are looking up for the old fella.

In case you’ve been under a rock this week and missed the saga of ‘Papaw’, Twitter fell in love with an old man this week, when one of his grandkids, Kelsey Harmon, tweeted a photo of her very lonely dinner with him.

Apparently five of Papaw’s six grandkids bailed on the invitation to eat burgers with their grandad, leaving him pretty upset, Mashable reports.

But now the kids are doing their best to make it all right.

Brock Harmon another, grandkid, tweeted the big news Friday night: ‘Papaw is having a cookout, and everyone’s invited.’

According to KVUE-TV, the big cookout is happening on March 26 at the family’s flea market in Purcell, Oklahoma.

Brock told the station, “We were talking about the whole thing and Papaw said, ‘Why don’t we have a cookout?,'”

Burgers will apparently be $2 (£1.32) apiece, and you’ll be able to buy a T-shirt that says ‘I had a burger with Papaw’ for around $25 (£17). All the proceeds will go toward the grandkids’ college education, and possibly some charities.

We don’t want anyone to think we’re doing this for fame. We’re a very family-oriented family. We communicate all the time… We want people to learn a lesson from this — call your grandparents, tell them you love them, go eat with them.

The idea’s clearly popular and people are already planning their trips to Oklahoma.

Brock told KVUE his family’s still in disbelief over all the attention. “No one would ever think that our Papaw would be the most famous Papaw in the world,” he said.

Now where’s my passport? I’ve got burgers to eat…
