It’s official, Jumanji is getting a Hollywood remake, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
Robin Williams starred blockbuster adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg‘s 1981 children’s book Jumanji. So that means it’s time for a reboot.
If you’re not happy about the news that Robin Williams’ blockbuster adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg‘s 1981 children’s book is entering the modern world, you’re definitely not alone. Hollywood remakes are something I never take lightly, and Jumanji up until now, was an untouched classic.
Rumours of the remake have been floating around since 2012, but were made official by Sony this week along with a pretty interesting release date… December 25th, 2016. Merry Christmas!
Details about both the director and the cast are yet to be revealed, however, the fact that the late great Robin Williams won’t be taking part makes it a rather sombre affair.
If we were a couple years earlier, and he was involved, this could have been something a whole lot different. But, we keep our fingers crossed that they can respect the original, and put something half decent together.
Meanwhile, here’s the epic, original trailer…
