There Was Another Major Oscars F*ck Up That No One Noticed

Well this year’s Oscars is turning out to be one big cluster fuck, isn’t it?

During the ‘In Memoriam’ segment – read by Jennifer Aniston – in which the academy acknowledges and pays its respects to the Hollywood legends who passed away over the last 12 months, they mistakenly used a photo of a woman who was still alive!

During the montage they took time to pay respect to Australian costume designer and four-time Oscar nominee, Janet Patterson. The problem was the picture they used was of Australian film producer Jan Chapman – who is VERY MUCH ALIVE.

According to the Huffington Post, Jan stated she was ‘devastated’ about the cock-up, particularly as her and the late Janet were great friends.

In an email to Vanity Fair she wrote:

I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson.

I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered.

Janet was a great beauty and four-time Oscar nominee and it is very disappointing that the error was not picked up.

She concluded the strongly worded email by saying: “I am alive and well and an active producer.”

Janet Patterson passed away in October 2015, her body of work includes films such as Portrait of a Lady, Oscar And Lucinda, Bright Star and The Piano – which she and Jan worked on together.

This lastest mistake joins the other colossal fuck-up of the night when Warren Beatty mistakenly announced La La Land instead of Moonlight as ‘The Best Picture’.

With all these high profile mistakes we’re pretty sure someone’s gonna get the sack.
