If you’d asked me earlier this year would I watch a film about a talking sausage on a quest to save food from hungry humans I’d have answered you with a blank stare.
But that was before I’d seen the trailer for Sausage Party the sure fire hit comedy from Seth Rogen and pals and they’ve just released a new hilarious teaser.
While the last trailer focused on the brutality and indeed the hilarity of food being cooked and eaten by humans, the latest teaser gives us a bit more of the story while still giving us a dose of fucked up humour.
It seems that food stuffs live an idyllic life in the supermarket, dreaming of the day they’ll be taken home by humans.
However when Frank the hot-dog (Seth Rogen) and his bun girlfriend Brenda (Kristen Wiig) learn what humans do to food they go on an epic quest to save their friends back at the market before they’re all devoured.
Joining them are the impressive vocal talents of Jonah Hill, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and a shopping trolley load more.
If it sounds like a stoner’s daydream that’s because it most likely is, being written by the same guys, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who brought us both Pineapple Express and This is the End.
The films being directed by animation veteran Conrad Vernon who’s worked on a number of Dreamworks’ films and also Greg Tiernan who randomly directed Thomas the Tank Engine so god knows what to expect.
Sausage Party’s out on August 12.
