Dogs are famously a man’s best friend, but unfortunately humans aren’t always a dog’s best friend.
According to the Huffington Post, it was once the general policy of vets in the US to euthanise all fighting dogs. They were just deemed too dangerous to live happy and fulfilling lives after they had been rescued.
Thankfully, that changed in 2008 after this landmark court case where US District Judge Henry E. Hudson decided that former fighting dogs should be given a chance to become rehabilitated and adopted to appropriate homes.
However, 12 states in the US still punish dogs for being the victims of cruelty themselves.
