Creators of hit show Making A Murderer have revealed they are gathering evidence to potentially put together a second series.

The Netflix documentary has gripped audiences since its release last month – especially in the U.S., where it has driven viewers to question the legal system they live under.

According to Variety, Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi – the brains behind the show – told the Television Critics Association press tour in California they have been gathering material, but wouldn’t commit to whether they’re planning another series.

Ms Ricciardi told reporters:

What we’ve managed to do in the past four weeks is have several phone calls with Steven Avery which we have recorded with an eye toward including them in future episodes.

Ms Demos was keen to stress that the story was ‘ongoing’ and that the cases are still open:

It’s real-life so you don’t know what’s going to happen. We are looking at other stories as well.

The pair agreed that there would need to be ‘significant developments’ for production to get underway.

However, according to the Independent, Netflix chief content editor Ted Serandos has also hinted that a second season may be on the cards as he told reporters: “The story is still unfolding, so we’ll certainly take a look at it.”

I think it’s fair to conclude that Steven Avery’s story is far from over. Watch this space…
