One couple have made a compelling argument that they’re the world’s biggest fans of The Simpsons, going so far as to refurbish their kitchen so it looks exactly like the one inhabited by Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie every week.
Canadian couple Marcia Andreychuk and Joel Hamilton have shown their love for the show by turning their kitchen into a live-in replica of the one at 742 Evergreen Terrace, down to details like the chequered floor tiles, green utensils and they even found corn-on-the-cob print fabric which Marcia sewed together herself to make the famous curtains!
And, to be fair, they’ve done it by recycling most of the old materials and haven’t had to do any major DIY work because they already had “the same bones as The Simpsons’ kitchen”.
Speaking to CBC, Marcia said:
It’s not like we’re ripping the kitchen apart and putting a ton of money into it. We’re taking what’s already here and adding colour basically.
The ambitious project has taken the couple from Calgary eight months so far and they’re not finished yet. Next on the list are a purple toaster, teal blender, orange phone and yellow canisters to add the finishing touches.
There’s no word yet on whether the couple plan on refurbishing the rest of their house to resemble that of Springfield’s favourite family (although the classic brown couch in the living room couldn’t hurt, right?) but, the main thing is, they won’t have to put up with Ned Flanders popping his head through their kitchen window each morning!
