If you’ve ever wanted to see a joint love letter to Grand Theft Auto and Pokémon (two vastly different franchises) you’ve come to the right place.
Hat-Loving Gamer is a YouTube channel that puts together some brilliant “demakes” combining unlikely games, but this might just be their best work yet. Seeing Grand Theft Auto done in the style of Pokémon is absolutely hilarious, with some genius touches throughout that nod to both franchises in unexpected ways.
There are too many brilliant moments to mention in the seven minute video, and trying to point them all out to you would would kind of ruin it. Seriously, just watch it. If you’re a fan of either game series, you’ll get something out of it. If you’re a fan of both, I guarantee you’ll love it.
Needless to say, things get out of hand pretty quickly and a cast of favourites from across the history of GTA soon team up for a battle royale.
One thing’s for sure: It’s a cold, cynical world out there when a Pikachu can get car-jacked.
