Yep, you read it right the first time. In a fascinating, liberating, aerating experiment, a feminist blogger has used the naturally occurring yeast from her vagina to make sourdough bread.
Zoe Stavri says it all started “with a fatal combination of a slightly perverse sense of humour, a keenly scientific mind, and touch of the thrush.”

She proceeded to bake a sourdough loaf using the yeast taken from the insides of her vagina. Live-tweeting the whole project using #cuntsourdough, AnotherAngryWoman documented each stage of her baking process, including pictures, updating her confused followers. She began making the yeasty loaf on Saturday afternoon, and it has been developing ever since.
In an attempt to explain the thinking behind #cuntsourdough Stavri said:
Vaginas are full of naturally occurring yeasts and bacteria, and when you get a yeast infection, you’ve got even more. [I] just wanted to see if it would work, because it might as well make itself useful.
ah good, I seem to have ruined bread for some people with a pretty feeble constitution :D — Another Angry Woman (@stavvers) November 23, 2015
Her controversial experiment has angered some people, with one particularly peeved poster accusing her of “confusing mental illness with feminism”. But judging from her attitude, it seems she just wanted to experiment. Maybe it’ll catch on – the yeast thing, not the thrush – that’s probably already popular enough.
