We’ve known for many moons that what we see on social media is a constructed version of reality.
But with something as tangible as flesh and blood, you’d think it’d be pretty hard to fake your physique without the aid of PhotoShop.
But this Finnish blogger has just proved that the whole thing really is an illusion.
The 20-year-old fitness and lifestyle blogger, Sara Phuto, posted a classic mirror selfie revealing the tricks behind the perfect bottom, perfectly illustrated by the likes of Kim Kardashian.
She wrote:
I thought I’d show my booty from its normal straight leg standing position vs a posed booty pop position…
Cause in a world where the Kardashian’s bootys are so glorified, we need to remember that the photos we see of them and others aren’t always reality.
Sara called out the Kardashian Klan who spend hours in the mirror each day trying to make their assets look ample in lieu of actually having a job.
Really, Kylie Jenner, could your admiration of your own behind be any more transparent?
The young woman, who is 66 weeks deep into her fitness regime, also stressed the importance of training and dieting to achieve your own goals, rather than chasing body ideals pumped out onto social media by professional ‘fitfam’ groups and the reams of accompanying ‘fitspo’.
Phuto went on to spread a body positive message for people chasing fitness goals – which seems to be pretty much everyone these days.
She added:
You can achieve anything with the right amount of determination, patience and effort!
Don’t think you can’t because you’re comparing a posed photo of a body to your everyday body.
Use them as motivation but don’t get too caught up on them. YOU are beautiful and can do anything you put your mind to.
Sure, certain individuals are endowed with natural curves – or the money to buy an endless supply of waist-trainers, fitness teas, butt implants and corsets – but if chasing them is making us so unhappy, perhaps its time we all reconsidered our life choices and went to whittle spoons in the wifi-free woods.
