Leonardo DiCaprio has one very specific type of woman: lingerie models.
And there was no shortage of them at his fundraiser for climate and biodiversity projects. I mean, nothing says ‘lets save the planet’ like a bunch of models on a 3,000 ft yacht.
And that’s exactly what he did – Leo invited a bunch of celebrities and models to his fundraiser to raise money for charity in St Tropez Wednesday night.
Given his track record (he raised over $40 million – or £30,540,500 – in 2015), it’s no surprise they raised nothing short of a massive amount.
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Annual Gala To Fund Climate And Biodiversity Projects — imagine putting that on a cheque — was a pretty decked out event attended by arguably some of the best looking (and richest, obviously) people in the world.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the Oscar winner’s foundation was able to raise $45 (about £34,330,000) million at the party on Wednesday night.
It’s no secret that Leo has a special place in his heart for preventing further damage from climate change. He even used his Oscars acceptance speech to make his views known.
He said after winning Best Actor for The Revenant:
Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.
And as if he wasn’t already a stand up guy, the proceeds will go to the charity’s efforts to protect the earth from climate change. The gala also honoured the victims and survivors of the recent tragedy in Nice by donating a portion of the proceeds to GiveForFrance.org, with Dicaprio also making a personal donation.
It’s good to see someone with social power using his hierarchy to do good – and clearly his model clad yacht party strategy works.
