Michael Jackson was one of the greatest musicians of all time, but if there was one thing more famous than his music, it would have been his love for surgery.

He started out innocently enough with a simple nose job. But after nearly 100 procedures, it all ended in a downwards spiral trying to repair the damage done by botched operations.

He spent nearly 30 years trying to achieve perfection, but Michael ended up as one of the most infamous examples of the perils of cosmetic surgery.

In the documentary The 10 Faces Of Michael Jackson, it’s revealed that Michael was nervous when he initially considered his first nose job – even asking his sister La Toya to have the procedure done first as his ‘guinea pig’. But despite his initial nerves, the music legend went on to have Botox, fillers, cheek implants, a lip augmentation and his skin bleached, The Daily Mail reports.

According to the documentary, Michael changed the shape of his nose to the point where it was so narrow that the airways were blocked. Eventually, his original features were almost completely obliterated – including his ethnicity.

The documentary’s most disturbing revelation though, is a computer-generated image of how the star could have looked had he left his face alone:

By taking photos of Michael before his surgery and ageing them, the documentary was able to generate what they believe Michael would look like today.

It’s hard to imagine Michael Jackson looking like this, though. Between the amount of surgery he had and the publicity that splayed it across the Internet, it’s difficult to think of him any different than how we know him.

If there’s an example of why you should leave your face as it is, Michael Jackson is it. But despite the criticism towards him, he was and will always be a music legend.
