Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have been systematically putting to bed the fears about the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider, with this latest video proving the game will have a meaty stealth element.
After already showing a taste of the actual tombs in Rise of the Tomb Raider and Lara being a badass, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were keen to show the different ways to approach situations in the game. Taken from a portion of the game called ‘Advancing Storm’, we see an alternate play through from the previous Gamescom footage that saw Lara murder just about everyone. This time, she’s taking a much more measured approach.
Making use of her environment, Lara will be able to tackle the game in a variety of ways. Using bushes, shooting arrows and throwing bottles to distract guards, it borrows from games like Assassin’s Creed and Last of Us.
Creative Director Mark Hughes spoke about the games stealth sections:
We’ve built our combat to offer players as many choices as possible – and in this case, it’s possible for Lara to make her way through the area with zero kills. Of course, sometimes combat is unavoidable, but how you approach combat in Rise of the Tomb Raider is often up to you.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the sequel to 2013 reboot Tomb Raider, and will release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 November 10. PC users will get the game in early 2016, while Playstation 4 players will have to wait nearly a full year before they get the title.
