A teacher’s gone the extra mile to teach the young boys without a father valuable life lessons, with a new scheme which he calls ‘The Gentlemen’s Club’.

Every Wednesday, Raymond Nelson, a teacher at Memminger Elementary in South Carolina, U.S. takes nearly 60 students and dresses them up in their finest suit jackets, dress shirts and they learn how to be gentlemen.

Lesson include how to speak to their elders, to open doors for women, how to shake hands and other essentials for being a proper gent, Vibe reports.

Nelson, being a student support specialist at the school, came up with the idea to help fatherless children by giving them a father figure an letting them know he cares. The idea for the club came to Mr Nelson over the winter holidays when he had a realisation.

He said:

I was thinking maybe if I have the boys dress for success…When was the last time you saw someone fighting in a tuxedo.

From that simple idea the Gentlemen’s Club was born and it began with the simple motto, “Look good, feel good, do good.”

Interestingly Nelson joined a similar group when he was a boy, at his mothers request, and is essentially paying it forward.

He explained:

It helped me to be a better man and I could spread the knowledge to the young boys.

This sounds like a great idea that we could do with here in the UK. If you want to support the club you can donate at their  YouCaring page which has been set up for donations to provide these boys with nice clothing that will actually belong to them.
