We’re sure by now you’ve noticed the rather odd new trend of people running around with their faces buried in their phones, as if hunting for something invisible.

The reason for this odd new habit is Pokémon Go – the eagerly anticipated augmented reality game that fills our boring mundane world with the magic of Pokémon – has finally been released.

Even better Go’s roster doesn’t include any of those strange new Pokémon that look like the developers ran out of ideas, I’m looking at you Vanillish, and fans of the original 150 are loving it.

The game challenges players to hit the streets and explore their local towns to find Pokémon in the real world, rewarding those who go the extra mile with rarer Pokémon .

This is all well and good in theory, but in reality it’s putting players into all sorts of awkward situations, and one user’s already made a rather grisly discovery while trying to ‘catch them all’.

Shayla Wiggins, 19, Wyoming, was looking for water Pokémon on the banks of the Wind River when she spotted a dark shape floating out on the water.

Eventually she realised that it was a man’s dead body, floating about three feet from the riverbank, and quickly called the emergency services.

Speaking to her local news station County 10Shayla said:

I didn’t really know what to do at first, but I called 911 right away and they came really quickly. I was pretty scared and cried for a while.

Police believe the death was accidental although the deceased man has not been identified.

Let this be a lesson to all you wanna-be Pokémon masters, be careful while hunting new team members!
