Three Daesh fighters have been killed by wild boars who were rampaging across Iraqi farmland.

The three jihadis were mowed down by feral pigs in Southern Kirkuk in the the al-Rashad region, Iraqi News reports and the militants supposedly ‘took revenge’ on the animals after the attack.

It has yet to be reported precisely how the boars killed the jihadis, or the nature of the revenge they took on the animals.

Daesh fighters have occupied the Kirkuk region since 2014, despite calls for the Iraqi government to oust them, and displaced thousands of civilians.

Militants in the area have reportedly regularly executed civilians accused of collaborating with security forces in Kirkuk or for suggesting that people should flee to refugee campaigns.

It’s expected that the army will try to retake the area once they finish their six month campaign to retake Mosul from the so-called Islamic State.
