Trine developer Frozenbyte has announced that its next game, the Assassin’s Creed/Metal Gear-esque Shadwen, is now heading to PlayStation 4 as well as PC.
The stealth-action game looks like an awesome blend of games like Metal Gear and AC, with a touch of timey wimey fun like Superhot or Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It certainly sounds tough too – if you get caught, it’s game over. So don’t get caught, I guess.
Similar to Superhot, time only moves when you do, so you don’t need to worry about fast decisions. And if you do fuck up, you can instantly rewind time.
But here’s where Shadwen gets really interesting: You take control of an assassin hunting down a king. The catch is that you’re followed by Lily, an orphan who doesn’t know what you’re really up to.
Naturally, it falls to you to take out foes lethally or non-lethally right in front of your young companion, with each action having an impact on her and the larger story. I would imagine that if you kill too many people in front of her, she’ll start to think you’re a bit of a dick.
Shadwen comes to PS4 and PC this May, but you can check out the PC system requirements (and play a free demo) on Steam right now.
