Tiny Detail About Daenarys’ Hair Has Somehow Only Just Been Noticed

Game of Thrones season seven ended a few weeks ago now but somebody has just noticed a detail about Daenarys’ hair.

It’s already well-known the costumes and hair styles of the characters in the hit HBO show are symbolic throughout the seven seasons.

The Dothraki adorn their braids after victories and cut them off after a defeat, we all know it, but it turns out it’s a tradition Daenarys took on board because her braids have multiplied as she’s won more battles.

If you remember, she gained braids after the liberation of Slaver’s Bay and again after her victory over the Lannister army.

She was involved in one of the most impressive battles in the Game of Thrones series in the Loot Train attack.

The fight was the first one to feature a dragon, flying around and setting things on fire all the while.

Very cool.

This same symbolism could have something to do with Cersei’s hair transformation as well.

When she was at rock bottom and seemingly defeated at the hands of the High Sparrow, her head was shaved.

In earlier seasons, Cersei’s appearance could be defined by her flowing, golden Lannister locks. However, before she was publicly shamed by the High Septon, her hair was shaved.

But last season wasn’t all battles as viewers witnessed Jon Snow and Daenerys finally get it on.

Which would be absolutely fine if the show hadn’t revealed finally the true parentage of Jon Snow, and revealed his true name: Aegon Targaryen.

This confirms Jon is a blood nephew of Daenerys. Of course he is! This is Game of Thrones afterall.

The Jon and Daenerys hook-up had been hinted at throughout the whole series and despite most people actually knowing of Jon’s heritage, everyone’s been on board.

People were not in the slightest bit bothered.

To be honest it’s a testament to how good Game of Thrones is – showrunners can manipulate our emotions so well they make incest something we’re all rooting for.

But still, it’s absolutely weird and somehow they’ve made us forget it, or at least stop caring about it.

We’re looking at quite a long wait until season 8 of the show, so there’ll be plenty of time to work out what this means for the wider world.

We can also assume there’ll be major conflict between the two in the final season, but right now people just want to revel in the weird glory of the relationship.

So when is season eight?

Entertainment Weekly asked  HBO‘s programming president Casey Bloys if it could be 2018 or 2019.

Bloys replied:

Yeah. They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing.

By the time the final season airs, Dan and David will have been at this for 12 years. Which is an amazing fact. They didn’t go and do movies in between seasons, they didn’t set anything else up, they put everything — and are putting everything — into this show.

They came into HBO with an idea for a show with a beginning, middle, and end, and they want to see it through. In conversations with them, they feel if their name is on the prequels — even in a passive way — it conveys some sort of expectation or responsibility.

They want to enjoy the show as fans and don’t want to worry about the scripts or production issues. We were hoping to have their names on it out of respect for them, but we understand why they don’t want that.
