However you feel about Donald Trump’s presidency it’s made the 2020 race for the White House a billion times more entertaining.
From Kayne West to The Rock, a number of celebs are capitalising on the most powerful office in the U.S. being reduced to the political equivalent of Keeping up with the Kardashians and are plotting a presidential bid.
In a normal year they’d be laughed out of house and home but it’s 2016 and the madness is real so we just have to deal with it – and the newest celebrity people are hoping will run is Tom Hanks.
The rumours began after Hanks made a speech assuaging fears surrounding a Trump presidency at the Museum of Modern Art where he was being honoured for his life’s work in film.
Hanks pointed out that the U.S. has seen worse days than this before promising citizens they would endure this tumultuous period as they had other dark days.
Despite people hoping that the world’s most lovable man, Hanks, will run he’s denied he’s capable of running the country, The Independent reports.
He said:
Just because I’m an actor, I can give a good speech, I agree with that. But the concept of actually voting for someone just because they can do that?
If this is the new reality and anyone, regardless of experience, can be president I say ‘fuck it’. Why not let Tom Hanks be president? Kermit the Frog can be his VP and Homer Simpson the Secretary of State.
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
