If you thought you didn’t love Tom Hardy enough already, wait until you see pictures of him beaming with pride as he receives his CBE from Prince Charles.

The actor, best known for his roles in Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Dark Knight Rises, received a CBE for services to drama at Buckingham Palace today (November 16).

Looking dapper in a navy suit, Hardy seemed to have a good rapport with Prince Charles as he was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

The smile on his face says it all really:

Earlier this year Hardy was made a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours recognising the important work he has done on the stage and screen.

But not only is Hardy a brilliant actor, he is also a great human as his love for dogs proves.

From helping find abandoned doggos their forever homes to taking his beloved dog Woody to film premieres, Hardy has always been a dedicated friend to our canine companions.

While Hardy is used to play hard-men in films like Bronson, two years ago he showed everyone that he has a softer side when he read a CBeebies Bedtime Story while cuddling up to his pal Woody.

Trust me, it is enough to make any stone cold heart melt.

You can watch a clip here:

The following summer Woody passed away aged only six years old leaving Hardy heartbroken.

While filming Lawless, the actor spotted an 11-week-old stray roaming the streets near the set.

Rescuing the pup, the two would become inseparable and share many magical moments together including, most famously, partying at the premiere for Hardy’s movie Legend.

Hardy certainly gave Woody Woodstock Yamaduki Hardy all the love he could give him and his passing, following a ‘very hard and short’ six month battle with polymyositis, an inflammatory muscle disorder, hit the actor hard.

In a message on the Tom Hardy Dot Org Tumblr page, Hardy paid tribute to ‘his bestest friend ever’ speaking about the devastation he felt.

He wrote:

I don’t normally speak out about family and friends but this is an unusual circumstance.

He was far too young to leave us and we at home are devastated by his loss. I am ultimately grateful for his loyal companionship and love and it is of some great comfort that he is no longer suffering.

Above all I am completely gutted. The world for me was a better place with him in it and by my side.

To the bestest friend ever. To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known.

I’m not crying, you are…

Not only did Hardy rescue Woody, earlier this year, he also helped four abandoned puppies find forever homes.

While strolling through a park in London this January, the actor came across a box of young Staffordshire bull terrier puppies which had just been dumped.

And because he’s a hero, Hardy took them to Battersea Dogs Home, while also sharing an adorable photo of them on Instagram encouraging his fans to visit the shelter and take a look.

Thankfully, people came to their rescue with each pup quickly finding a new home.

You’re a hero, Tom.
