The fourth film in the Toy Story franchise will tell the love story between Woody and Bo Peep, as the cowboy is reunited with his love interest from the first two movies.
The two characters were romantically linked in Toy Story and Toy Story 2, but the story was very much in the background of the main action. In Toy Story 3, Woody sadly notes that Bo has been sold/given away by Andy.
Pixar announced back in March that Toy Story 4 would be a standalone movie, separate from the trilogy, and this latest news would seem to imply that the action of the fourth film will take place before the other films.
Speaking at Disney’s D23 conference, Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter (and director of Toy Story 4) confirmed the news.
He said:
It’s something we’ve never done with Toy Story before. It’s a love story with Woody and – and this is news – Bo Peep.
Sequels to Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles are all in development following Disney’s acquisition of Pixar in 2006.

Set six months after the events of Finding Nemo, the plot will follow Dory, the loveable but forgetful blue tang surgeon fish, as she attempts to find her own lost family with the assistance of Nemo and his father, Marlin.
Finding Dory is set for release on June 17, 2016, while Toy Story 4 hits cinemas on July 14, 2017. And, we can’t wait, because we’re basically big kids!
