More than 400 friends and family from across the world attended her funeral after dying of head injuries at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow, back in July.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Sandra, 54, said:

Karen was such a friendly and caring young girl. She loved her dancing and had been dancing since she was two. She had medals in jazz, ballet and tap. She spent months working at
Paris in their performance team, dressing up as Minnie Mouse and Pinocchio. She loved her time there.

The Daily Record reported that Karen had been studying for a Higher National Diploma in Contemporary Dance at Dundee and Angus College.

Sandra explained to the Hamilton Advertiser how Karen was sent her diploma two weeks after she passed and that they left a pair of her dancing shoes at the spot of the accident in her memory.

The family are now urging authorities to look at safety precautions on Carlisle Road in Hamilton, where the accident happened. They learned that Karen was driving within the speed limit and that her car came off the road at a bend in wet conditions.
