Man Down starring Shia LaBeouf looks looks like it could be one of the most poignant war films in a long time.
The film tells the story of Gabriel Drummer (Shia LaBeouf ) a former U.S. Marine who after returning from a tour in the Middle East searches for his son, Jonathan, and wife, Natalie (Kate Mara).
Accompanying Drummer is his best friend another marine played by Jai Courtney who’s trigger happy attitude causes problems for Gabriel while he’s on his quest.
Also starring in the film is Clifton Collins, Jr. and Gary Oldman which is being directed by Dito Montiel who last worked with Robin Williams on the film Boulevard.
It seems that Shia LaBeouf may be having something of a Shianaissance, LaBeoufaissance (we’ll work on the name later) impressing in Nymphomaniac and American Honey, that said anything’s better than the bellybutton lint that was Transformers.
Variety have described his performance as the kind ‘seldom seen since the days of Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift’, which is pretty high praise I guess.
Man Down opens in the UK on December 2.
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
