A few years back a couple of guys got into a room with some studio execs and pitched a film about Nazis fighting in the name of their super-evil super race.

You might picture the sorrow of Schindler’s List or the melancholic melodies of The Pianist. Perhaps the gut-wrenching claustrophobia of Das Boot or the epic sequences in Saving Private Ryan and the upcoming Dunkirk?

Not these guys. They figured it had all been done before. They thought Hollywood needed a different treatment of the dictatorial racist killing regime of the 1930s and 40s on the silver screen.

So they sent Nazis into space, called the moon the Fourth Reich, titled the movie Iron Sky and got America to fight the threat led by a Sarah Palin lookalike. For real.

Of course, the original Finnish-German-Australian movie shot to cult classic status immediately, with viewers revelling in its bizarre narrative and the sprinkling of Star Wars references to the Dark Side.

You can watch the trailer for the original Iron Sky (2012) film below:

After the success of Iron Sky, the filmmakers have now announced the film is getting its very own intergalactic sequel.

They have dubbed it, ominously, The Coming Race and it’s coming to a cinema near you in February 2018. This time, Hitler is back and riding a dinosaur.

You can watch the teaser trailer below:

Iron Sky The Coming Race looks set to become another cult classic with all of the comedic styling of Inglorious Basterds and the space heroics of Guardians of the Galaxy Just with all the finesse of The Room.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in those pre-production meetings.
