After years of debate and rumours, fans of Danny Boyle’s 1996 cult classic Trainspotting finally got confirmation late last year that there was a sequel coming, and today the first teaser dropped.
Unfortunately, the world ‘teaser’ is extremely apt for this particular trailer as it shows no new footage, instead we only get some raucous highlights from the original film set to Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life.
What we do get, however, is confirmation that the film officially began shooting today, May 16, and that the original gang Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) are back together.
We also know the film’s title… maybe.
Only late last week, Ewan McGregor told the good people over at The Empire Podcast that the sequel will be called T2, although as that’s already the name of Terminator 2, it’s still very possible this isn’t the final title.
Unless this is some kind of crossover and the gang are going to be fighting an army of Arnie style cyborgs?
According to McGregor, the film is going to be a very loose adaptation of Irvine Walsh’s sequel novel Porno, which is set ten years after the original Trainspotting.
The Trainspotting sequel pulls into the cinematic station in January 2017.
