President Donald Trump has sent a warning to the Iranian president after he threatened the United States.

Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, threatened the POTUS on Sunday (July 22) when he spoke to a gathering of Iranian representatives in Tehran,  IRNA report.

He explained how, if the US got into a war with Iran, it would be the ‘mother of all wars’, and added Iranian people ‘never bow to anyone’.

President Rouhani said:

Mr Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret.

America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars.

Don’t play with fire, or you will regret. Iranian people are the master and they will never bow to anyone.

You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests.

Rouhani’s comments came after Trump revealed plans in May for the US to quit the Iran nuclear deal, which was arranged during Obama’s time in office, and to reinstate sanctions on the country, CNN report.

Trump was quick to respond to the Iranian president and stand up for himself and the US.

He responded using his favourite platform – Twitter – and issued a warning with the added emphasis of all caps.

The tweet read:

To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.

WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, hinted the US might try to encourage the Iranian people to protest, which would lead to destabilisation in the country.

Following the Iranian president’s threat, Pompeo referred to Iranian leaders as a ‘mafia’, saying they were ‘merely polished front men for the ayatollahs’ international con artistry’.

According to CNN, the man accused those in power of trying to conform society.

He said:

The ideologues who forcibly came to power in 1979 and remain in power today are driven by a desire to conform all of Iranian society to the tenants of the Islamic Revolution. The regime is also committed to spreading the Revolution to other countries, by force if necessary.

To the regime, prosperity, security, and freedom for the Iranian people are acceptable casualties in the march to fulfill the Revolution.

The level of corruption and wealth among regime leaders shows that Iran is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government.

These hypocritical holy men have devised all kinds of crooked schemes to become some of the wealthiest men on Earth while their people suffer.

The Trump administration also put forward the idea to demand other countries to stop buying Iranian crude oil, but have since said some countries who rely on the supplies, may be granted waivers.

President Rouhani seemingly found Trumps’ plans ridiculous.

According to IRNA, he said:

Anyone who understands the rudiments of politics doesn’t say ‘we will stop Iran’s oil exports’.

I guess time will tell whether Trump fuels the flames or manages to amend relationships…
