Turkish Hotel Staff Terrify Brits With Mock ISIS Attack

Almost two months on from the horrific shooting on a Tunisian beach that saw 38 holidaymakers killed, staff at one Turkish hotel have terrified Brits by staging a mock ISIS terror attack.

Workers at the five-star Grand Yazici Mares Hotel in Icmeler, Turkey, armed themselves with fake guns and ‘pranked’ poolside guests in scenes that echoed the Sousse massacre.

Guests reportedly ran for their lives as one staff member carrying pretend fuel pulled out a lighter – but guests did not find it funny, and rightly so.

The mock attack was labelled as a ‘Hollywood-themed poolside show’, and saw staff members stalking sunbathers with fake machine guns.

Speaking to The Sun, holidaymaker Jason Pythiain, said: “I looked around and saw Arab-looking guys stalking around and above the pool carrying big guns.”

He continued: “Then one threw the bucket over me. [Sister] Dawn had been haunted by the news of the Tunisia attack and we’d tried really hard to persuade her to come with us. You could see in her face that she thought her worst nightmare was coming true.”

With Turkey being listed as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as the country at highest risk of a terror attack, it’s no surprise that an overwhelming amount of guests complained to the hotel manager.

Jet2holidays, who some of the families booked the holiday with, apologised for the incident, saying: “This was a Hollywood-themed poolside show, which included the characters Rambo and Superman, and is always well received by the hotel’s residents.”

Yeah, there’s a time and a place, and that definitely wasn’t it.
