Shocking footage has emerged showing the moment a Russian plane crashed after into a sewage treatment plant after spinning off the runway, killing both pilots.

A video filmed by a passenger recorded the harrowing screams as the A-24 Angara Airlines flight smashed into the building after coming off the tarmac on to grass.

At first, the approach and touch down during an emergency landing seemed normal, but then the pilot appears unable to slow the plane and it suddenly veered off the runway.

The passenger’s video records the appalling moment of impact with the building as the fuselage is crushed.

Miraculously, the 43 passengers including two children and cabin crew survived the horrifying crash, however 19 of the passengers were hospitalised for treatment.

The Antonov-24 had asked for an emergency landing after suffering an engine failure soon after takeoff from Nizhneangarsk in the Siberian republic of Buryatia.

A second video issued by the Russian Investigative Committee shows the crashed plane engulfed in flames as firefighters battle the inferno with toxic black smoke swirling from the wreckage.

A male passenger on the flight said there was ‘jostling’ on board in a fight to get out of the burning plane. He claims there had been no warning from the crew about an emergency landing.

He said:

We just started landing. We then thought that it was usual. We were not warned that there was an emergency landing.

The man recalled how the plane ‘slipped’ off the runway before crashing and catching fire. He claims the cabin crew were nowhere to be seen when the plane began to land.

He continued:

And then we started pulling people out. First we jostled. It was already hot, smoke and flames.

Those who first got out, they began to help the others. We began to climb out one by one.

I got scratched and bruised my pelvis. There was no crew around.

We ourselves pulled out the emergency exit from the left side, almost by the nose and began to climb out. We jumped to the ground.

The anonymous man says he saw the smashed fuselage and broken bricks from the building the plane hit.

He said:

A family with a newborn baby for a long time did not get out. There was a hustle in the plane.

Women shouted and the men tried to somehow organise everything, but not really succeeded.

We climbed all through one exit almost. There was a feeling that we will not get out in time.

A criminal probe into possible negligence has now been launched by the Russian Investigative Committee.
