Two TV journalists have been shot dead during a live news report in Virginia today, their station, WDBJ7 confirms.
The shocking incident occurred in Moneta, Bedford County, during a routine news report when multiple shots were fired. This prompted reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward to flee the area. Unfortunately, the pair died moments later.
In the distressing footage, Parker, 24, is speaking to a woman at Bridgewater Plaza about tourism in the area, but the interview is suddenly cut short when seven shots ring out. The camera then cuts as Ward, 27, runs for cover.
In the first statement to come out, the station’s general manager, Jeffrey Marks, said: “We do not know the motive. We do not know who the suspect or who the killer is.”
Police are currently investigating the incident and are searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
