An American college was placed into lockdown on Wednesday following reports a man was carrying a rifle on campus.
Except, he wasn’t carrying a rifle at all. He was armed with a non-lethal toy lightsaber, reports the NY Daily News.
Officials at Farmingdale State College, Long Island, ordered a ‘shelter in place’ alert after a call was received by 911 at 9:40AM.

Suffolk police attended the scene but quickly deduced the campus was safe as the man in possession of the toy did not have a rifle, nor any apparent Jedi powers.
No one was arrested or hurt during the incident police said.
The police situation on campus has been resolved without incident. All students, faculty, and staff should resume normal activities.

Well, despite the farce, it’s better safe than sorry, I guess.
