Having already dominated cities, towns and even food delivery around the world, Uber is now setting its sights on the high seas.
The ride-sharing app is now launching UberBOAT, essentially an on-demand speedboat service – which sounds pretty awesome to be honest.
Sadly though we won’t see it speeding through the canals and rivers of the UK anytime soon as it’s only launched on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia so far.
Apparently Uber dabbled with the idea before, trialling it in the likes of Boston, Miami and Istanbul.
But while these locations were only temporary, this will become a regular and reliable option for people looking to island hop in Croatia – serving the major tourist spots of Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik, Business Insider reports.
It works pretty much the same way the app does for cars, once you’ve requested a boat for between eight and 12 passengers, you’re then guided to a nearby pickup point where a captain is ready and waiting.
This isn’t the first time the app has diversified it’s choice of transport, having offered a UberMoto option in the heavily trafficked areas of Thailand, Indonesia and India- giving riders the choice of picking a motorbike ride.
Dare we say this is a game-changer? Of course it is.
