UFC featherweight Gilbert Melendez suffered a nasty leg injury during a fight against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 215 in Edmonton – and it’s not in a good way.
Melendez’ wife Keri took to Twitter to update fans on how her husband was doing and posted a couple of photos of the damage, ouch!
Captioning the photo, Keri wrote:
Hey All. Everyone is asking about Gilbert’s leg. Here is a pic today. He is doing A ok. Thank you to all for the support. We feel the love.

Melendez’ leg isn’t looking in the best shape, but Keri said her husband is doing fine and said there was ‘no structural damage’.
Opponent Stephens postponed his wedding to fight Melendez, in what was his featherweight debut against the experienced fighter.
Stephens attacked Melendez’s lead leg ‘right from the start and did damage right away with a kick to the calf’, writes MMA Fighting.
According to the site, Melendez’s leg swelled ‘almost immediately’ during the fight.

Multiple times, Melendez fell to the floor, unable to stand under his own power but he continued getting back up.
Melendez drew plenty of praise for his fighting spirit, including from UFC president Dana White who tweeted him saying: ‘Much respect GilbertMelendez u are a tough SOB!!!!!!!!!’
