St. Lucie County Sheriff's OfficeA Florida man pulled off an incredible feat earlier this week, being arrested only minutes after being released from jail.
37-year-old Casey Michael Lewis didn’t even leave the grounds of the St. Lucie County Detention Facility in Fort Pierce, Florida, being arrested 15 minutes after being released.
Lewis decided to enjoy his freedom by stealing a car from the parking lot, getting arrested on charges of burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
According to CNN, Lewis was released from the jail on Thursday (April 4) where he had been held on grand theft charges.
The report adds according to an arrest affidavit, the 37-year-old began walking about the car park acting suspiciously by checking numerous vehicles’ doors.
CCTV footage caught Lewis peering into cars, before opening the door of a silver vehicle, entering from the driver’s side.
St. Lucie County Sheriff's OfficeSitting in the car for approximately two and a half minutes, Lewis is then seen leaving the vehicle, before walking the length of the parking lot.
He then goes back to checking vehicles by either lifting their door handles or looking into the windows.
At this point a police officer approached him and, according to the affidavit seen by CNN, Lewis claimed he was ‘waiting for his girlfriend’ in the parking lot.
Questioning Lewis further, the officer discovered the 37-year-old had a brown paper bag on him filled with items from a vehicle which included an iPhone 7, four packs of cigarettes, a lighter, one Visa bank debit card, a Florida driver’s license and $547 in cash.
Arrested at the scene, Lewis was immediately taken back inside the jail.
In a Facebook post, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office shared a mugshot of Lewis revealing he was released on a bond of $11,250:

Michael Casey Lewis, 37, of Stuart was arrested Thursday morning by the Port St. Lucie Police Department for grand theft and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail. He bonded out and was released.
After being released, deputies in the parking lot of the jail observed Lewis pulling car door handles and learned he had just burglarised several cars right there at the jail.
Well… Lewis was re-booked into the jail on MORE burglary charges and released AGAIN on a bond of $11,250.

Maria Entner, a spokeswoman for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, did confirm to CNN when Lewis was released the second time, they wisely made sure someone was there to pick him up.
