The worst kept secret in gaming has had its existence eluded to more times than you can shake a post-apocalyptic stick at, and this new slip-up has added yet more fuel to The Last Of Us 2 fire.
If we’re learning anything, it’s that you should never trust The Last Of Us developers Naughty Dog with your secrets, because they will likely tell everybody about your weird rash/wet dream/brief sexual encounter with your second cousin.
The latest evidence comes from an Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection video stream in which writer Josh Scherr unwittingly mentions the ‘first’ Last Of Us game, before quickly fluffing his words and back-tracking.
He says:
All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric, here, and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?
This is obviously not official confirmation of the game, but evidence is beginning to stack up that Naughty Dog have been working on a follow up title.
Earlier this year voice actor Nolan North let slip that he knew The Last Of Us 2 was being made, and last year, a former lead character artist changed his Linkedin profile to include work on The Last Of Us 2 head sculpts.
It isn’t impossible that Scherr was referring to The Last Of Us expansion Left Behind, but it is unlikely. If you’re holding your breath for an announcement on the game, it will be some time in the distant future as Naughty Dog have confirmed Uncharted 4 is currently their sole focus. Bugger.
