Wearing Black Makes You Appear More Attractive, Intelligent And Confident

It’s great news for goths and metalheads everywhere as a new study has confirmed that wearing black makes people appear more attractive, intelligent and confident.

As reported by the Independent, the study surveyed 1,000 people to find out which colours they most associated with certain qualities. And, although black is sometimes thought to be linked to negative qualities, it actually came out first or second in every positive category.

Test subjects in the study were shown pictures of a member of the opposite sex – all of whom were identical, except for the colour of t-shirt they were wearing.

And 66 per cent of women felt black was the sexiest colour on a bloke, while 46 per cent of men said they preferred black on the ladies.

Red was also considered an attractive and confident colour, but people also associated the colour with arrogance and only 12 per cent felt it marked intelligence. Meanwhile, the likes of brown, orange and pink landed at the bottom of the list in most categories, and pink was the colour people least associated with intelligence. Ouch!

The survey was conducted by UK retailer buytshirtsonline.co.uk so we should probably take their findings with a pinch of salt, especially if their site suddenly has an abundance of dark clothing.

Still, it’s probably time to crack out your old Nirvana t-shirt and put this theory to the test.
