Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The good news is that ‘Straight Outta Compton’ has been so well received since it hit cinema screens in August, grossing over $140M worldwide, that the idea of a sequel is already doing the rounds in Hollywood.
Now, a film based on the 2001 documentary and book ‘Welcome to Death Row’ is allegedly being discussed.

Including characters such as Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, and Suge Knight, the film would cover one of the most turbulent eras in music history.
The bad news – at present ‘Welcome to Death Row’ owns no music rights and given it took 13 years to negotiate ‘Compton’ to the silver screen, no one should hold their breath whilst talks take place.
Dr. Dre and Ice Cube revealed that the cause of the lengthy delay was due to numerous feuds, issues with studios, and various other setbacks.

And lets not forget Suge Knight’s escorting away from the set of ‘Compton’, which was followed by the death of one man, the serious injury of another, and Knight’s arrest.
Hopefully, however, given the triumph of the first film, the scope for success may push negotiations through faster.
Either way the concept of ‘Welcome to Death Row’ is certainly exciting.
