West Yorkshire Police have made a public apology after posting a tweet seemingly mocking a couple of homeless people.
The pictures in the tweet were taken after the officers seized the car because those living in it had no insurance – and had to leave, carrying bags of their stuff.
The tweet even included the hashtag ‘luggagewalkofshame’.
Obviously this caused widespread outrage from the public, many of whom also took to social media to make their unhappiness known.

Eventually, the police deleted the tweets and were forced to apologise – but frankly, the damage had already been done.
A Police Spokesperson claimed:
This was clearly an inappropriate tweet which we immediately removed from our Twitter account, and we are looking into the circumstances as to why it was posted.
Regardless of any offences people have committed they still deserve their human dignity and we would apologise for the offence this has caused.
Not only are the tweets seriously offensive, they’re also mocking people who could well have fallen on seriously hard times in their life, and need a helping hand. Not ridicule.
