The wife of gunman Omar Mateen – who killed 49 people inside an Orlando nightclub – may have gone missing, Omar’s father claims.
Noor Salman was reportedly living with Mateen’s father, Seddique, in Fort Pierce when her husband carried out the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.
Public records list her most recent address – presumably where she lived with Mateen after they married in 2013 – as a 15-minute drive from his father’s home.
Speaking to the Sun Sentinel, Seddique said that Noor is ‘no longer here’ and has left the area, possibly even the state of Florida.
Salman and Mateen have since been put on the ‘no fly list’ by federal officials, as investigators conclude what role they played, if any, in the brutal attack.
According to recent reports, Salman was with Mateen when he bought ammunition and a holster, shortly before the massacre at Pulse nightclub.
CNN also reported yesterday that Omar, 29, had added Noor, 30, to his life-insurance policy, giving her access to his bank accounts. The couple have a three-year-old son.
In the aftermath of the attack, Salman told officials that she was aware of Omar’s intention to attack the club and claims that she tried to talk him out of it.
The two were texting during the attack, with Salmon trying to call him several times after news of the shooting broke, but Omar didn’t answer.
In the texts, Mateen asked his wife if she had ‘seen the news’. Salman then told Mateen that she loved him, CNN reported.
Shortly after the attack, Salman deleted all her social-media accounts and has not given any interviews to the press.
A grand jury is now weighing up whether or not to charge Salman with a crime for withholding information from police about her husband’s plans.
