A woman from Florida has allegedly shot her husband in the head after an argument over a Google search.
57-year-old Lawanda Brown is alleged to have shot her husband, 58-year-old Tony Brown at their Fernandina Beach home.
Deputy officers discovered Mr Brown lying in a pool of blood, with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. He was airlifted to UF-Health Hospital, Jacksonville by Fire Rescue, in a critical condition.
Police officers arrested Mrs Brown on charges of attempted murder on the afternoon of May 28, 2018, reports WPTV. Officers reportedly discovered a .38 caliber revolver in the couple’s bedroom.
According to Action News Jax, Mr Brown is a prominent businessman and the former director of Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.
Back in 2001, the successful businessman was even nominated by George W. Bush for a position in the US Treasury Department.
The couple now both run a consulting company, T. Brown Consulting Group, which, according to their website, the group ‘helps communities, businesses, governments and lenders devise capital solutions for community development, real estate and small business initiatives across the country.’
Find out more about the incident below:
Mrs Brown told officers how they’d both been working together on a project for the company in their home office when Mr Brown requested his wife use Google search to find a project template.
According to Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, it was at this point she became distressed at the tone of his voice.
The last thing Mrs Brown said she recalls is her husband walking out of the room, describing the rest of the incident as being a ‘blur.’
Deputies made the following statement over social media channels:
The suspect said she could hear a tone in her husband’s voice that he was not happy with how she was searching.
She said it was all a blur as the victim started walking out of the loft prior to being shot
Mr Brown is reportedly now in a ‘serious but stable condition’ and is ‘able to talk and communicate’.
Mr Michael Couey, who worked with the couple for years, spoke to Action News Jax about his shock over the incident:
I would never expect this, I’m kind of blown away about it right now.
I’ve been working here every day, pretty much, I saw nothing leading up to this…No fighting, no nothing of the sort, nothing that would come to this.
Mrs Lawanda Brown was held under police custody at Nassau County Jail, with her bail set at $500,000.
