28-year-old Amber Watford was reportedly arrested by Alaska State Troopers after she leapt into a patrol car and sped away with her husband Joshua, 38, along for the ride.

According to the Associated Press, Amber jumped into action after Joshua was arrested for failure to attend court-ordered classes following a DUI conviction. Apparently, after he was placed in the back of a patrol car, a passing motorist stopped to chat to the officer and, seizing the opportunity thanks to the distraction, Amber hopped behind the wheel and made a break for it.

Authorities in Alaska eventually found the car a short distance from where it was nicked – in Big Lake, a small community about 65 miles north-west of Anchorage. The spontaneous husband and wife duo were arrested the following day at a home in Wasilla, thanks to a tip off to police.

The couple, who remained at large for around 30 hours, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and other charges, including hindering prosecution and criminal mischief.

All in all, we imagine this was a pretty embarrassing couple of days at the office for the officer who arrested Joshua!
