Jay Z and Will Smith are continuing their incredibly healthy business relationship by embarking on another co-produced venture.
After partnering up last Christmas to bring the world a remake of Annie, through their respective companies (Roc Nation and Overbrook Entertainment), they are bringing the world the story of Emmett Till.
The show, which will air on HBO, will revolve around the 14-year-old’s murder and mutilation. Said incident took place in Mississippi back in 1955, simply because he spoke to a Caucasian girl – and the fact that Emmett’s murderers were acquitted despite admitting that they killed him only makes the story more complex.
The project is currently in the very early stages, is untitled and has no writers or cast attached to it yet – but we imagine some care will be taken when actioning this.
The pair, alongside Calvin Harris, also have an EDM-centric comedy on the way, which is a stark contrast when you put it beside the Till miniseries, but if anyone can pull it off it’s these two.
